The Mindthief is also VERY quick, so it's important to eliminate enemies quickly, or use that superior initiative to reposition to avoid damage. We've had some close calls, and lost a scenario or two, but it's been fun all the way. Mindthief is level 5 and Spellweaver is level 4, and I wouldn't say we regret this pairing at all.

Mindthief is just pretty simply, strong. Going past that should be fine, as you have quite a strong party composition here it seems.

The mind thief doesn't have many cards that do that. Also, with it being an attack that can be performed at very high range (potentially 5 + the range on your initial target), this attack is ideal to finish off an enemy that has 1 or 2 health remaining. And you still may get to use a normal attack with a top action.
